is a 1961 model brought in to the USA from England in November of
1976,
shipped out of Liverpool in a box into Newark NJ where I picked
it up and paying import tax on same. The car had been in storage
for about 9 years waiting on an estate settlement. A friend in Cheshire,
Mr. William Quint, found the car for me. I had been corresponding
with him for quite some time.
The
car was taken up to the RR factory in Crewe to be gone over prior
to shipment and a conversion had been done at that time to the Rolls
radiator and accessories including the instrument panel and rear
bumper guard, etc. to my specifications. It could be the only one
of its kind to be converted to my knowledge. After arrival in the
US, I had the convertible top re-dyed to a caramel color as the
original white top had become a dull shade and sort of an off-white
oyster color. At the same time I had the seats re-dyed Champaign
to match the top and the mildewed black rugs re-done to a lovely
shade of golden beige. All the wood was also removed at that time
and done over with poly. The car has served me well with little
and low maintenance. I had a new generator put on this summer as
I now have 136,205 miles on it and enjoy the car very much. Especially
in the summertime with the top down when we go to the Pocono Mountains.
